Digital assets are complicated and constantly shifting. There are security risks, user misunderstandings, and multiple ways to effectively lose money when interacting with digital assets. You should carefully read the risks below, because as part of using Vector you acknowledge that we, Tensor Labs Inc., are not responsible for any of these risks:
Losing Access To Your Email Or Devices
- Privy uses your email to control access to your account with Privy, so if you lose access to your email account you may not be able to recover using Privy’s email-based recovery features. There are other risks with Privy that you should consult Privy’s documentation to understand. We do not control Privy.
- If you lose access to your device that has Vector on it, and you do not have a backup of your private keys, and you cannot recover through Privy, they you may lose access to all of your digital assets.
Losing Private Keys
- If you lose your private keys and fail to make a backup then you may in the future lose access to your digital assets if Privy and/or Vector are not functioning properly. Always backup your private keys because they are the codes that actually control your digital assets, and they can be imported into other compatible software to regain access to your assets (without the need to use Vector).
- Please test your key backups to make sure that you can maintain access to your digital assets. We do not control Privy, which offers the key shard access system as a means of backing up your private keys, and you should verify that it is functioning correctly by using it to restore on a periodic basis. We do not control the Privy software or systems or algorithms used for backing up private keys using shards.
- Losing access to private keys is the number one way that users lose their digital assets because we do not have them and cannot access them for you. Vector is a user-controlled wallet, which means that you control your private keys.
- The more valuable your digital assets, the greater the need to make backups. Vector is a user-controlled wallet, so we cannot recover anything for you. This is great, in that we can’t access your digital assets so you have better security, but it’s less great if you lose what you are responsible for keeping. There is a level of responsibility with user-controlled wallets, and you are taking on these responsibilities. If you don’t want to do take on this responsibility then you should use a custodial product like a dealer/exchange that’s reputable and regulated in your particular jurisdiction. We do not provide advice about any particular platform that you could use as an alternative or supplement to Vector.
Data Errors
- Vector includes data from many third-party services which may not be accurate or may be incorrectly modified in transit to you by bugs in computer systems. Always double-check data using independent services outside of Vector, especially before conducting any type of blockchain transaction. We are not responsible for inaccurate data that is displayed in Vector.
- Prices of tokens may not be accurate. Prices of tokens may not be timely. Prices of tokens may not be the same as other sources of prices. There are many ways that prices of digital assets can slightly or significantly differ, and we encourage you to always check multiple sources of information before doing any significant transactions that are predicated on a certain price.
- Data in Vector is sourced through computer programs and are not verified for accuracy by anyone. You assume the risk of errors in the data that these programs may provide you with through Vector.
- For digital asset pricing, you should know that there’s rarely “a price”, and the actual prices that can be realized depend on how popular it is, what region, method of purchase, size, fees charged, etc. This is especially acute with less popular tokens, for which there may be very limited data or people interested in obtaining them.
Third-Party Services And Digital Assets
- We do not recommend any particular digital asset. Even if the user interface of Vector appears to be highlighting a particular digital asset, please take care to investigate and be aware that no one can promise you that any digital assets will go up, down, or stay stable in price. Nothing within Vector should be read as an endorsement.
- If any of your transactions are directed towards a bridge you should take to ensure that it meets your standards and that you understand the security model that pertains to the particular bridge, which may require you to make written inquiries with the bridge operator. We do not run any of the bridges that are accessible through Vector. Some bridges have failed in the past, causing losses for users.
Inherent Risks Of Blockchain Interactions
- Blockchain network costs, such as Ethereum gas fees, may not be accurately calculated by Vector or may not be optimized for your particular use case. We do not receive any part of the blockchain network costs, which are an inherent part of these networks, and we cannot recover them or modify them once your transaction has been sent.
